A recent email was sent out, notifying all active customers of AptHost, regarding our migration to Nginx. For clarification, this upgrade will have no affect on the majority of websites that we host and is compatible with all video sharing scripts such as Clip-Share, PHPmotion and Vidiscript. As previously stated, the purpose of the upgrade is to decrease load on the servers and decreases your website loading time.
Nginx itself has not yet been deployed, currently it is lying dormant on all shared and reseller servers, while we prepare for the big change within the next 2 weeks. A notification will be sent out once all websites are running Nginx. If you haven't modified the .htaccess file then there is nothing you need to do in preparation of the upgrade, your website will work just as it did before, only loading much faster. However if you have modified the .htaccess file, then you will just need to convert your mod_rewrite rules into Nginx rewrite rules. If you would like us to convert the file for you, a fee of $5 will be charged to your account, otherwise we have done our best to create a do-it-yourself guide on converting the mod_rewrite rules to be Nginx compatible available in the Nginx Knowledgebase below. AptHost has set itself as a Pioneer in the hosting industry, being the first to offer FFmpeg Hosting in a shared hosting enviroment, we will once again be setting a new standard by utilizing Nginx in a cpanel hosting enviroment.
